LinkedIn Revamps Search With New ‘Galene’ Architecture

For a company that does more than 300 million users, LinkedIn’s search functionality was due for a much-needed raise. LinkedIn has traditionally adopted a more reactive approach to hunt but is hoping to alter that with Galen, their new search architecture. LinkedIn was using a procedure that centered on an open-source library called Lucene.

According to LinkedIn, this solution was utilized to “set up a search index, searching the index for matching entities, and determining the importance of these entities through relevance scores.”
